Hi,
In the launch bar of viewer, I found only Adobe products {reader, Live Cycle Designer, etc.} can be displayed. For other PDF reader competitors such as Foxit:
1. After Foxit installation and the first time I start PDF XChange View after that, Foxit button will be displayed in launch toolbar.
2. However, clicking the button actually launches Adobe.
3. After closing and starting XChange viewer again, launch button will only include Adobe buttons, with Foxit button completely disappeared.
Why does it happen? Is it a competitive tactic?
Bob
No Foxit button in launch bar: competitive tactic?

Re: No Foxit button in launch bar: competitive tactic?
Hi bob_sun,
We made the change in question over a year ago. It wasn't due to any competitive tactics. That button was put their as a courtesy to our users for the odd circumstance where we did not support a feature of the PDF they wanted to view. As the number of PDF readers grew, as well as the number of poorly performing ones, we restricted this to Adobe rather than troubleshoot challenges with other readers. Since Adobe drives the PDF specification it only seemed logical.
Regards,
Jamie.

Jamie,
I could vouch for Foxit that it is in no way a poorly programmed PDF reader. Would version 3 consider allowing its button in the launch toolbar?

Hi Bob_sun,
I can definitely put it on the user wish list, but can't make any promises if they will change the implementation.

Jamie
