Printing out texts with "typewriter" tool.

Post by victorferreira »

I have a problem when I print out a pdf file with texts that were written with typewriter tool, the words are not the same that I wrote with that tool, the words have capital letters and are mixed, for example, H[HPSOR, why this happen?
Thank you.

Note: I'm using PDFXCHANGE VIEWER PRO

Hello victorferreira,

Welcome to our forums.

First please make sure that you are using the latest build of our Viewer (check it in Help -> About) - and if you do not have build 2.5.199 installed - download it from here:
www.tracker-software.com/PDFXVwer.zip

If the problem persists with the latest build, please do send us a sample file (attach it to this topic).

Also please do let us know your exact printer make and model, and try to check whether the text looks incorrect in the print preview, or it's correct there and only becomes garbled when actually printed.

Best,
Stefan

I wrote the word "example" with typewriter tool, in the pdf file and after printing it appear in the paper these following characters ([D:
We are using two plotters, Xerox 8830 and OCE TCS400 and in the both plotters appear the same problem.
Please see attached files.

Thank you.

Hello victorferreira,

The developer that this was assigned to was relocating to our Head office over the last week, so he hasn't checked it yet - but things should normalize this week and we will address this as soon as possible.
It is still in our "TO DO" list - and is not forgotten!

Best,
Stefan

Almost always this happens when printer drivers do not interpret fonts from PDF files correctly.

There is no common solution (at least for now), but there are two possible workarounds:

1. Check the Print as Images option in the print dialog or
2. Press the Advanced button (in the print dialog as well) and in the Print Text as Curves combo select For Embedded Fonts or Always.

Of course both solutions will produce a larger print job - and may print slower, but the results should be OK.
HTH.
