Redacting Question

Post by Mattes57 »

Maybe you've heard about the failure of the british Ministry of Defense: they used a black bars to make text passages unreadable in a PDF-document. However, using select, copy&paste, the passages could be read anyway.
(look http://www.h-online.com/security/news/i ... 29523.html)

In the article above, there's a link to Adobes way of complete redaction.

So, my question is: can it be done with PDF-XChange as well ? (And how)

Thanks for the article Mattes57,

Permanent redaction is coming in ver3 of our Viewer, and you can have a look at this brief introduction of what's coming in ver3 (planned for release later this spring) here:

Thanks for the Information.

Will I have to buy an upgrade license then (currently having a PDF-XChange pro license)?

Hello Mattes

It depends on when you bought your ver4 license and whether you still have an active maintenance period.
As far as I am aware everyone who purchased after 1 Jan 2010 or has an active maintenance at the time we release ver3/5 will get the upgrade for free.

Best,
Stefan
