Hotkey issue

Post by reinaldov » Wed Oct 14, 2020 1:27 pm

To invoke the "Save as..." dialogue, I'm trying to use the Ctrl+Shift+S key combination, as is displayed in the menu. Every time I use the key combination, I see a tool displayed as two perpendicular red lines forming a corner. When I click and drag this across the document, it delineates a rectangle that disappears and causes the document to "flash" when the left mouse button is released. I realized that it might be acting as the snapshot tool, so I tried pasting into paint to confirm that is the case.

I'm using PDF-XChange Viewer 2.5, build 322.7 on Windows 10, with a "settings.dat" in the same folder as the executable to have settings saved there.

I apologize if this has been mentioned before, but the forum search seems to have no way to be forced to include the "s" in a search for "Ctrl+Shift+S" or the "as" in a search for "save as".

I also cannot find a list of hotkeys in the knowledge base or the support forum.

Best regards.

1) Please take note that PDF-XChange Viewer has become a 'discontinued' application.
It has been replaced by PDF-XChange Editor.
More information:

2) In case you absolutely like to continue using PDF-XChange Viewer and you do not succeed to get SHIFT + CTRL + S to work for the "Save As" functionality, then you can think about switching to another keyboard shortcut for it:
- Right click whatever toolbar in PDF-XChange Viewer
- Click "Customize Toolbars..."
- Select the "Commands"-tab (in the Customize Toolbars dialog-box)
- In the column at the left, select "File"
- In the column at the right, select "Save As"
- Click the "Properties"-button
- Press the desired keys for a new keyboard shortcut
- In case there are "No conflicts", click OK

3) You can find the current "Keyboard Shortcuts" in the "PDF-XChange Viewer Manual".
That manual is installed by default on your computer during installation of the application itself.
Look for the concerning entry in the Windows menu via the Windows Start-button.
You can find the shortcuts in the manual on page 23.

The PDF-XChange Viewer Manual can also be downloaded from here:

Best regards.

Most likely you have an application that intercepts this Ctrl+Shift+S shortcut for making an area screenshot.
Please check your installed apps.
