Simple Text File to PDF File Conversion using SDK Libraries?

Post by gregv » Tue Jun 16, 2009 4:49 pm

I would like to use VS C# to convert an existing text file to pdf format.
Do you have any C# examples the show how to do this using the SDK (Tools or XC)?
The reason for using code is that we need some kind of audit trail for the conversion.
A simple failed, succeeded from the return of of a method call would suffice.

Thanks in advance,

Greg Venable

Hi Greg,

its a while since I had Version 3 installed here now - but certainly there is an example using the pxclib40 library in version 4 and that should not be so different - you can download V4 here :

PDF-Tools SDK

HTH
If posting files to this forum - you must archive the files to a ZIP, RAR or 7z file or they will not be uploaded - thank you.

Hi..
I am trying to convert simple text to pdf . I am facing the same problem. could any one help me out in getting the appropriate library.
so that i can start coding.

Is pxclib40 is the only library required to convert word to pdf ? or other libraries does it require.

Thanks in advance

Hello syedrehman,

Is it "simple text" - like a .txt file, or an actual doc/docx file that you want to convert to PDF?
As there would be quite some differences for one and the other.
If your files are plain text ones - take a look at
C:\Program Files\Tracker Software\PDF-Tools 4 SDK\Examples\SDKExamples\<<YOUR PREFERRED PROGRAMMING LANGUAGE>>\PDFXCDemo

If it's conversion of .doc files to PDF - check my reply in your other topic.

Stefan

Hello Syed,

Please take some time to review the project.
It shows you how you can do various things with the PDF Tools SDK - it does create new PDF files from scratch. With the correct radio button option selected this sample project takes text from ..\TestFiles\ex_text.txt - and adds it to the generated PDF page. This should be a good starting point for you.

Stefan

Hi Syed,

Please do take a look at the samples - as John mentioned above, there should be an example that covers this. Also, please do take a look at our online help:

Hi Syed,

I'm not a Developer, but I don't believe that use of the Word API should be necessary to convert *.txt files. Please see here for the specific function:
http://help.tracker-software.com/DEV/de ... rawtextexw
The Problem what I am facing is that When I hit browse button. It Is reading only pdf format file.
I believe that you may be looking at the wrong example here, as the Dev. Team have pointed me to this example:
C:\Program Files\Tracker Software\PDF-Tools 4 SDK\Examples\Bin\CExamp.exe

Please check that example and the link above.

Thanks,

Hello Syed,

Do you want to rotate an existing page? Or just want to be able to create new pages with portrait and landscape orientation and then fill them with content?

If you want to create new pages - take a look here:

Stefan
