Compression Issue in Build 66

Post by SteveN » Tue Nov 16, 2004 7:27 pm

Hi All,

There is still a problem in Build 66 with the Tiff Group4 compression.

When I use Group3 or Group4 compression (ImCompression_CCITT4 = 7), the resulting image is black/white reversed (that is white text on a black background), yet if I don't specify any compression, the image is correct.

In build 65 this worked correctly.
See my previous postings for the code and test.pdf used.

Imaging for Windows (as bundled in Windows 98 ) displays these TIF files in reverse video, IrfanView displays it correctly.

This is the old Photometric Interpretation issue, with applications (such as Imaging for Windows) that don't read the Photometric Interpretation tag(Tag 262)

This should be set to 0 (white is zero)
It is set to 1 (black is zero)

This problem is known and addressed by Microsoft:

A sample TIF is attached.

Regards
Steve

Thanks for the helpful post and will revert as soon as I have further info or a fix.

Though please note this may be a problem as it may compromise other functionality we have included and as this is an MS/Kodak bug and not ours - I cannot guarentee we will be able to do this easily or in a timely manner - but we will try.
