Pdf's with the ability of highlight/copy text from it
Hello,
I'm generating PDF's from a standart C91 WMF Report Q. This works without any probs.
Now I was asked to give my PDF's the ability of copy selected parts of the text (RTF). It means they want to Highlight some text, using Ctrl-C and then Ctrl-V inside MS Word for further editing.
What must I do ? Any ideas ?
BTW, I have no influence on the choice for the Reader they'll use.
TIA, any hints appreciated.
Regards, Thomas

Re: Pdf's with the ability of highlight/copy text from it
Hello Thomas,
As long as your original content is not rasterized - it should be saved in the PDF in such a way so that the text is later selectable. As long as you do not place security restrictions on the file that might prevent this - text copying from the PDF should then work in all PDF readers that have such a feature. If you can supply a sample of the files you currently generate - we should be able to tell if their text is already ready to be copied.
Regards,
Stefan

Re: Pdf's with the ability of highlight/copy text from it
Thnx Stefan,
works like a charm now. My prob was the security setting and the using of the standard Win 8.1 PDF Viewer. This Viewer is IMHO not capable of copy and paste..
I used yours now and this one is really great, compliments !
But now I have another question: if I copy RTF text out of my PDF and then inserting it in a Doc I loose the formatting like Bold ect.
Any hints for this ?
TIA,
regards, Thomas

Hi Thomas,
With the text selected in the PDF - right click it and select the "Copy as Rich Text" option, rather than just Copy, and your paste into other text editors should be much better.

Stefan
