.PDFX files produced?

Post by aprotec_richard » Tue Feb 27, 2007 1:26 pm

We are using the PDF X Change printer driver in our application to print to PDF in a variety of different circumstances and during routine maintenance of my development machine I've noticed a number of ".PDFX" files which I am not sure where these have come from?

From the date that the files were created this could have been when I was testing for compatibility with printing from Word 2007 to the PDF X Change printer driver, our software currently has functionality to automate Word 2000-2003 to produce information in PDF format.

This has been proving a little problematic and I had put this down to problems with automating Office 2007, but is there an updated version of the PDF X Change printer driver we should be using perhaps?

If I rename the .PDFX files to .PDF they do seem to be valid PDF files, my guess is that these are files created temporarily during the printing progress?

Any thoughts anyone?

Hi Richard,

You dont say which Release/Build you are currently using - but modifications have been made in a recent build to accomodate some issues that arose after MS released Office 2007 - so an update to our latest build for Office 2007 is advised - you can see the revisions history here on an ongoing basis :

As far as the files with a .pdfx extension are concerned - I can only assume that something you are doing in your code or testing is giving these files a .pdfx extension - as this is not the default behaviour of any of our products - as you will be aware our SDK's pass control of filenaming to your code if required - so it must be related to your application or the tests you mention.

Yes, that does sound likely to be honest, I think this is entirely our problem and thanks for the information, sorry to bother you!
