Do you have any product which converts doc file (microsoft word) to pdf,
while keeping the text layer?

Hi,

Yes - assuming you are a developer - the PDF-XChange Drivers API SDK offers this - there is a demo app for VB/C++ etc showing this.

If you are not a developer - then any of our PDF-XChange end user products also offers this.

Developer's are advised to read carefully the Royalty Free licensing terms and FAQ's on our forums - usually there is no problem, but you are advised to read first - before purchase.

Please see :

For more general info and a link to the evaluation download.

Hi,

Assuming you did not deselect any of the desired components - you will find all the Driver API examples (including Office format conversions) in these folders:

Assumes the default install locations were accepted.

X:\Program Files\Tracker Software\PDF-XChange PRO 3 SDK\Examples\APIExamples

Hi,

I'm also looking for a way to automatically make PDF files out of DOCs.

But I can't really find any example program that would work (or be documented for that matter). I downloaded the PDF-XChange Pro SDK evaluation version, and looked in the specified folder but am not really sure what to look for...

Anybody have crayons to show me how to do it?-)

Hi,

You dont say what development tool you are using - but there several examples see the installation sub folder :

x:\Program Files\Tracker Software\PDF-XChange PRO 3 SDK\Examples\APIExamples

Also the help file :
x:\Program Files\Tracker Software\PDF-XChange PRO 3 SDK\SDKHelp\Drv_Api.chm

These are simple examples and you may wish to investigate the MS Office COM object available on MSDN - although please note we do not provide support on using this, though you will find some other useful threads here discussing the use of this - but the MS developers'Office links offer extensive content on the subject generally

Thanks, coding in C#. Your example currently opens the word and then prints to pdf and finally closes the word document. Is it possible to do the conversion *without* opening the document in word?

Hi,

Word is required to open and print the document - we provide no direct/external means outsided of Word to create the PDF.

You can of course hide Word - but it must be resident on the client system.
