Porting application to 64bit

Post by DennisOwen » Fri Apr 24, 2009 3:37 pm

We have TiffXChange 3 that is used to print images for an page mangement application developed for one of our agencies. They now want to install that application on 64bit windows. What are our options for doing that? Do we just have to install the RasterXChange on the 64bit machines and just configure that to save to the proper location and launch our application like with TiffXChange?

Yes, you have. But please notice that Raster-XChange COM API significantly differs from the one of TIFF-XChange. So if your application uses that API you will have to modify it accordingly.

We are just using Tiff-Xchange as a regular printer in Windows. The application does not communicate with the printer, it just watches a specific folder that documents are created in.

Downloaded the demo for Raster-Xchange and noticed that if you use the seconds macro in the save file name and are saving each page to a separate file, each page has a different base file name:
64bit Printer Drivers20090427144114_01.tif
64bit Printer Drivers20090427144115_02.tif
64bit Printer Drivers20090427144118_03.tif
with the value of the seconds place different. Tiff-Xchange did not do that.

Other than that, the demo seems to work as we would want. I still have to fix the other parts of our application that won't run on 64bit before I can really test the 64bit version out.
