I think the length of the document is OK. The process I see working is to place each block then respace it before applying the next block.
Or assemble all the text in a word processing app - with the new spacing and create a new PDF from that...

it depends on the document. Not all documents will be the same, some parts get rasterized when others don't.

you need to remove the recovery info (select it then hit the Delete icon):
or change the settings to not bug you when it is still there:
