The idea is not bad and would actually work provided the right folder where the file is located would be opened.
Unfortunately this is not always the case and I would have to browse which is time consuming.

Aaargh....I have to apologize.Seems to be my mistake.It works when I go to the sub menu as shown in your picture.
What I did was that I (stupidly) wanted to use the "split document" option which is obviously not the same as the "split pages" option.

I just opened @thedxcarnadi's pdf-file and PDFX-Change instantly(!) gave me the option to make a copy of the file with the option "Save As Not Restricted".
When I did so everything that was disallowed became editable.
I am still using v6 / Build 321.0

I just created a simple pdf-file with two form fields: a text field and a check box.Saved it and opened it with Adobe Reader DC (I don't have Adobe Reader XI installed).

I downloaded the portable version just for testing purposes only before replying to your post.I didn't make any changes to the settings.
Changes to local version were only made to re-arrange the toolbar - nothing special.

Just tried it on my system and couldn't find a problem. Seems to be working fine for me.
I use a portable version Build 318.1 and a local version also Build 318.1.

I just realized that I have/had the same problem.
I attached my xcs-file in case you want to have a second one for your investigations.
As I didn't made many changes I just re-created my settings which fixed the problem.(Resetting to default values worked too)
