The option is still there in Word 2016, but it is in the Layout Options.

1) Are you sure that you are using each time a "Text Box" comment, or do you sometimes use the "Typewriter" comment ? It can also be that you are using a very old version of PDF-XChange Viewer. The most recent version is 2.5.322.8 but its further development has been stopped years ago (keep reading)...

When you activate the Properties pane (via the View-menu > Other panes or via the View-ribbon > Panes), you can see the Subject field.

When a new Comment is created, the Subject text-field is filled in with the type of comment (Sticky Note, Text Box, ...) but you can change this text if you like.

If you first select the text, then you can run the replace just for that selection.

For as far as I know, there is no out-of-the-box solution for what you like to achieve.

Maybe if one could write a macro in Word that does the "Paste" by first removing the line breaks.

In Microsoft Word, you use the "Find and Replace" function:
- in Find what, click the "Special" button
- select "Paragraph Marks" or "Manual Line Breaks"
- in Replace with, you can leave this empty, or type a space character

1) To be able to proceed with the message, you must mark the check box.

2) The root cause of the problem is that JavaScript Actions are not enabled.
Via the Edit-menu > Preferences > JavaScript, you can mark the check box.

I am only able to reproduce this via the "Select Text" icon while "Exclusive Mode" is on.

In that particular case, turning off "Exclusive Mode" is the solution.

I created two (base content) text boxes and also two (comment) text boxes near to each other, but I was not able to.
