Was it PDF-XChange Viewer or was it PDF-XChange Editor, and what is it now ?

Maybe a little bit strange, but I can not tell you what printer language this printer is using.
No way to find this out, no information.

In either case, there is a clear difference in the size of the printfiles when printing via the Viewer versus printing via the Editor.

Maybe I begin to understand what can be going on ... In a PDF you can set via Document Properties > Initial View, the "Magnification" to "Fit Page". This is specific for this particular PDF. In PDF-XChange Editor and Viewer, you can set via Edit > Preferences > Page Display, the "Default Page Zoom"....

If you want to copy the text, then you have two options:
1) selecting the text in PDF-XChange Viewer and Copying it / After that, switch to Word and Paste

Look for the "Properties" toolbar, via View > Toolbars > Properties Toolbar (= the very last entry in the menu).

In that "Properties" toolbar, you will see a "Keep Tool Selected" button.
Activate this button, and your problem will be resolved.

If I understand it correctly, switching between "Software rendering" and "GPU rendering" does not result in any difference.

I do not have that plug-in, but sometimes the fact of printing rasterized or not, depends on the dpi settings.

Are these values identical when printing via File > Print and printing via the plug-in (f.ex. 300 or 600 dpi) ?
