Re: Embedded Fonts issues

It is possible that Inventor does not properly send the fonts to begin with. I tried some the barcode font "code-128" and it is properly embedded by XChange (Standard trial). I have one test file, though, where the lines are all too thick and high, but no idea how I created that (later tests didn't ...

Hi Will,

thanks for getting back to me. I will wait and look what the new OCR module brings.

Re: PDF-XChange Editor shows some documents with wrong font/

I also just noticed that some of the capital letters that are substituted properly as sans are also not part of the original file. So there doesn't seem to be any direct correlation.

Re: PDF-XChange Editor shows some documents with wrong font/

I think the reason is simply because these chars are not part of the original text and the font likely is only partly substituted (aka only those chars that are used).

Re: PDF-XChange Editor shows some documents with wrong font/

Why is this even mono-spaced in Acrobat and XChange? The original font (AdoneSansMM, Myriad) isn't mono-spaced, is it? My HP printer offers a PS substitute font for AdobeSansMM that is not mono-spaced. Really don't know, just curious.

Re: Embedded Fonts issues

Curiously NitroPDF turned out to be in category 2, which is strange considering that PrimoPDF is category 1 (same company). And for reference: Adobe Acrobat DC's printer driver is category 1, too. Strange part is that Acrobat DC is not able to edit those documents with proper font like Editor is abl...

OCR adds another (new) image layer

Hello.

I wonder why OCR adds another (new) image layers on top of the text layer when the option to preserve the original content is used. When I OCR a (scanned) image then I end up with two identical image layers.

Re: Embedded Fonts issues

I am in the process of testing a dozen different PDF Writers, both free and commercial. Turns out that among those drivers that work without just transforming to bitmap there are two categories. Unfortunately XChange belongs to the second category. 1. All fonts and text are embedded properly Printer...

Re: PDF-XChange Editor shows some documents with wrong font/

Both Adobe Reader and XChange Editor substitute the documents font with the "Adobe Sans MM" (Multiple Master) font. Since this is not a font that can be licensed or downloaded I don't know how Tracker came up with their version. There are some minor and one major difference(s) between the file being...

Re: Embedded Fonts issues

I understand, get home and spend time with the family first. There are quite a few culprits with embedded fonts (not present on my system) in both Editor and XChange printer, so I am still on the verge. For comparison I am also checking Adobe Acrobat DC + its printer driver. The price difference is ...

Re: Features I am missing in Editor

I wasn't aware previously, but it looks like Willy is correct and images cannot be pasted into different applications. I'll see if there are any plans to add this. Re: Embedded Fonts issues

Features I am missing in Editor

Not sensitive, no, but copy-righted. This is why I chose the page listing the copyrights and authors as an example page. Thanks a lot for improving logical page numbers! Unfortunately they don't work for the Print dialog. Instead I have to use physical page numbers there, which is rather confusing/inconvenient for books using front- (i) and back-cover (ii).

Re: Feature request: modern Search engine

That being said: It would already be a *huge* improvement if you allowed to sort the Search results by number of hits (pages with more hits of the search term on top of the list). Of course I would prefer thumbnail results, but better sorting of what the Full Search box already presents would help a...

Re: Why: after update of PDFX, I have to restart my PC?

Since installing the latest version of PDFX fixed a broken IFilter (needed for indexing PDF files for Windows search) this surely is one part of why sometimes you need a restart. I never really noticed how my PDFs were not indexed until I really needed it, so one restarts is little to pay for improv...

A speed dial kind of functionality as seen in some web browsers might be useful in that regard. Open PDF XChange Viewer empty and get a dial of the mostly opened/accessed PDF files with a thumbnail preview.

Re: Good work with OCR feature

Background OCR and multithreading are things we are planning, but it's an issue of prioritizing this vs. the new product release and it may not be available until version 3. For me OCR is a very welcome icing on the cake and fortunately I don't really need it often. But when I do it is a bit odd to...
