It's a known problem with some pdf producers. Old versions of Adobe Reader seem to have no problem with these titles, while newer versions display them like PDF-XChange Viewer does.

Thanks again - actually I resized the cached image manually to 16x16 - it was just a report to be sure, that there won't be any problems and all will work as expected for other users in future.

Maybe the viewers "Flatten Comments" feature could help. I can't test it here, since I'm not really sure, how the version is determined. When I add an annotation (tried Sticky Note and Typewriter) with the viewer and save the document, the source code still starts with "%PDF-1.4"...

If you own the PRO version, you can disable the ad in Edit -> Preferences -> Registration, check the box "Hide AD bar"
If you're using the free version, you can't disable the ad.

Hi, I think it wasn't reported before - and actually it's more a PDF-XChange issue. It came with the integration of the viewer into the PDF-XChange package. The names of the components in the installation process aren't helpful at all and a new user will probably not know, what to select if he likes...

Hey - I saw the preview and couldn't resist to make a new icon for my pdfs.

You're right - according to the changelog it was implemented into version 2.0.0038.2.

Hm, I extracted and attached the corresponding pages from my manual. Maybe you have an older version of the manual!?

In short: To close an already opened pdf use

Code: Select all

PDFXCview.exe /close "PathToPDF\FileName.pdf"

I'm not really sure, what you need for your course. Depending on the editor you are going to use, to produce the LaTeX files, you can work smoothly with PDF-XChange Viewer. I'm using LEd which does the compilation via a batch file. Before a recompilation, closing the pdf via command line works fine ...

Oh, I didn't notice until now, that all options can be set up seperately for the plugin. That's very nice :) Until now, I only had different toolbar settings - now I've different default document view settings, too!

Changing language doesn't affect browser plugin

Changing the language in PDF-XChange Viewer 2.0 build 42.0 beta doesn't affect the language settings in the browser plugin (I'm using Opera). For now, you have to press Ctrl+K (if you didn't change the default hotkey), to get the preferences dialog if you want to change the plugin's language settings.

There are many situations where on does not want it to be possible for the permission constraints to be over-ridden with a password. I can't imagine any situation, where you want to restrict access to the document via security settings, but don't want to protect these restrictions with a password. ...
