Re: "Preview isn't available: The system cannot find the path specified."

I tried doing a full uninstall as described in the first response post, installed to a different drive letter (with no spaces in the short install path), and did the file association in-app as well as checking with the XCShInfoSetup.exe utility. I observe the same results as originally reported with...

Re: "Preview isn't available: The system cannot find the path specified."

All of the files I am trying to preview are local on the same machine. I see this issue on any drive letter, including files that are in the root of the user's profile directory on the C:\ drive (under C:\Users\username). I usually get there by navigating from This PC down into the drive letter and ...

Re: "Preview isn't available: The system cannot find the path specified."

Thank you for your quick response! Unfortunately, that didn't do the trick either; same results as originally posted.

Re: "Preview isn't available: The system cannot find the path specified."

Thank you for the reply and instructions. However, I have done this a few times now and it doesn't make a difference; I get the same outcome as originally reported. If the information helps with diagnosis, I couldn't find the referenced key in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE after the uninstaller comple...

"Preview isn't available: The system cannot find the path specified."

I have PDF XChange Editor installed and in general it seems to work OK, but I can't get preview of PDF files working in Windows Explorer. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling, including uninstalling via the uninstaller (same as the installer, with Remove selected), rebooting, downloading the latest...

Re: Feature request: Session management for xChange Editor

Agreed - this would be a very useful feature. The Session Manager for Firefox (http://sessionmanager.mozdev.org/) could be a good model to follow.

History not tracking recently opened

After experiencing a crash that (per this discussion ) closed all but one of my tabs, I go to look in the history list to try to find the other documents I'd recently opened, and they aren't there. Other documents, most of them from a month ago, are; it is unclear what is needed to get on this Recen...

Indicate when search wraps

When scrolling through the results in the Find feature of X-Change Editor, it would be a nice added feature to know when I've wrapped around to the first result I saw (or wrapped to the start of the document); the notice should be obvious and optionally include a sound. Thanks for your work on this ...

Re: Restore last session when application starts

Is there likely to be any progress on this soon? I am experiencing system crashes without warning surprisingly often these days, and the loss of workspace is a significant issue. I'll be reverting back to PDF X-Change Viewer which has better support for restoring sessions on system crash, but would ...

History viewer?

There is a Manage History & Recents dialogue (see https://help.pdf-xchange.com/EUM/default.aspx?pageid=PDFXEdit3:documents for access). When opening it, one can see in History Options the Max. number of items (default 5000), a note of how many items the History currently contains, and the Recent...

Re: Customize right-click menu?

Thanks. I much look forward to being able to right click in unannotated space and Add note right at the top of the list, similar to how it is with right-clicking on highlighted text.
Thanks again!

Re: Feature request: Split Screen

Updating with the linked-to installer, I still see this issue. When I turn on horizontal split, the horizontal split is created and the lower window has a copy of the document, opened to the first page and default zoom level, rather than scrolling to the split location and rather than having the sam...

Re: Restore last session when application starts

To Stefan, That's great; it's not the kind of session restore I'm talking about here, though: I mean that when the application starts, documents that were previously open are reopened, like the Firefox browser (which also does this recovering from crashes). To Vasyl re: Bhikkhu's suggestion, it is n...

Re: Restore last session when application starts

Fortunately, it doesn't seem to be PDF-XChange Editor that's crashing. Unfortunately, it's the whole system that is, apparently led by other Adobe products (e.g. Distiller or Flash Player). Is it reasonable to do a write to the session file on Open, Close, change in Split view, and when the window l...

Re: Restore last session when application starts

Thanks much for the reply! Upgrading to the latest gave me the Documents category in the Preferences pane, that wasn't there before. A better design, accommodating crashes, is to update the session file each time a document is opened or closed (or an action is fired that would cause the session file...

Restore last session when application starts

This option was essential for me in PDF-XChange Viewer, and I recently lost a lot when the computer crashed with some long-open docs in Editor. Where is the equivalent option in Editor's preferences?

Re: Feature request: Split Screen

I would also recommend, when adding a split (e.g. horizontal), that the document view in the newly shown window be initialized at the same zoom level as the document in the (top) pane and scrolled to exactly the point where the (top) of the new window is adjacent to the (bottom) of the now-smaller o...

Customize right-click menu?

In Viewer, I really appreciated being able to right-click and Add Note as the first option. In Editor, that activates the Hand Tool and there isn't even an option to Add Note in that menu.

Is it possible to customize this, like we can customize the toolbars?

Re: Feature request: Split Screen

Thanks for this info, and for starting implementation of this feature in Editor! A few aspects of this feature, borrowing UX from MS Office, that would be nice additions: -Small bar to grab at edge of scroll bars, to open split screen view, instead of having to go through the Window dropdown (and re...

Feature request: Split Screen

PDF-XChange viewer is awesome, and I first want to thank the developers for that. I frequently use it to read articles that have endnotes and references, and I'd love to be able to split the screen to have what I'm reading in the upper part and the references section below, to avoid having to scroll...
