Feature request: Table extraction

Hi, working with PDFs containing engineering or business documents often entails working with tables of data. Since PDF does not have a native table representation, the process of trying to extract information from these tables is very tedious. I am aware of the export to excel feature, but I find t...

Ability to modify the span of Highlight and Underline comments

Hi, is there a way to modify the the text span of the highlight and underline commands that does not involve deleting and re-doing these comments? I frequently find myself in the situation where I highlighted a space or a letter I don't want to highlight or where I missed a single character. It woul...

Re: PDF Editor 7.0.323.0: Document tabs

Hi Christian, What are you seeing in 7.0.323.2? Hi Paul, 7.0.323.2 has fixed the issue for me as well, thanks for the quick update. As for the scroll speed: I was referring to the speed when tabs don't shrink. It think it's a bit lower than in v6 and could be increased a little. But maybe I just ha...

Re: PDF Editor 7.0.323.0: Document tabs

I cannot test your settings because the Editor is crashing on import of them. We are investigating this right now. Funny, this works for me on a second computer. Without using your settings I find the tabs are shrinking as expected and I only make the settings in preferences and restart the Editor ...

Re: PDF Editor 7.0.323.0: Document tabs

Hi Christian, it appears to be working for me in the 7.0.323.1 pre-release I am looking at. Having said that, it is not a 'Portable' version. There are quite a few fixes in this next release, many of them UI related. My suggestion is to wait for the release tomorrow when all the versions will be av...

v7: Menu height

I noticed that in v7 the menu height is larger than in v6. Is there a reason for this? The same applies to the title bar but it has a few new buttons that might be responsible. But the menu bar is unchanged and just takes a few px extra without any change to the font size apparent to me. Please cons...

Re: PDF Editor 7.0.323.0: Document tabs

Hello christian kuhlmann, Does this mean that this checkbox is not checked for you, and you can't make it stay checked? I had no problems with changing it's state and saving it between Editor sessions. Hi Stefan, what I tried to describe was that despite the checkbox being set or cleared (and being...

PDF Editor 7.0.323.0: Document tabs

Hi, there are some (minor) issues with the document tabs in PDF Editor 7.0.323.0: The shrink document tabs setting (Preferences>General>Tabs and Windows>Shrink document tabs) is only applied on importing the preferences. Even a restart of the editor (I'm using the portable version) does not apply th...

Re: Build 322.3 doesn't restore Last View Page when opening PDFs

Yes - sorry to be the bringer of not so good news - but indeed we are still finalizing some things that are preventing us from releasing the new build as soon as we were anticipating a month ago. Sorry to say that, and not directed at the support staff here who are doing a great job, but this is ge...

Hi All, Thank you for your patience. I am afraid that this issue is still present, and the ticket status is set to 'Open'. Hi Patrick, thanks for your update. Does open mean the issue is not even assigned to anyone or does it "just" mean its not currently worked on? I have to say I'm a bit surprise...

Re: Build 322.3 doesn't restore Last View Page when opening PDFs

Hi, may I ask whether this bug was resolved in 322.4? Unfortunately I'm experiencing a very similar issue where the page of some documents is not remembered in build 322.4, so I'm wondering whether this is a new bug or just the one reported here. Also, is there a workaround available for this? Best ...

Re: Wordfile produced with ConvertPDF.pvp cannot be opened

Hi Stefan, thanks for confirming that this is an issue with the Word version. Maybe the "save as" dialog should say something like "Microsoft Word 2010+ document" to avoid confusion for other users. Anyway, I like the new export capabilities even though the result (at least in my example) still need...

Hi Alex, thanks for looking into this. First of all, I cannot open your file with my version of word - the same error occurs. I will try it on a newer Word version later. Do you know what the minimum version is for the converted files to work? // Edit: I checked the files with Word 2010. With that I...

Wordfile produced with ConvertPDF.pvp cannot be opened

Hi, I'm trying to convert a pdf to a word document using XChange Editor Build 318.0 and ConvertPDF.pvp version 1.0.0. I can save the document as docx without any errors or warnings and a file is created. However, when I try to open this file in Microsoft Word 2007, I receive an error that word has p...

Feature request: Session management for xChange Editor

Hi, I'm excessively using the feature of the editor to remember opened documents. However it would be even more useful if it were possible to store and recall several of these sessions. I've tested 312.1 and the issue with the open handles is resolved. However, the pdf preview still has a minor problem with not showing any further previews after a while. I've not been able to figure out the exact pattern. Opening a new explorer window re-enables the preview function until the issue...

Hi, thanks for this very fast reply. I will try the new version once it's available. Since the update to version 5.5 (Build 312) I have a strange issue with windows explorer not closing handles to pdf files I have opened or selected. First of all I'm very pleased with the recent progress of the editor. However, I'm having a strange problem with PDF-XChange Editor and its OCR feature. Feature request: Fit to page contents (auto crop with zoom)

I'd like to suggest that you add the ability to zoom to the contents of a pdf document. This would automatically crop all margins and display the boundary box containing all (visible) page elements. Such a feature is available with most ebook readers and I think it is also useful when using a deskto...
