Hello.

I would like to suggest a feature that allows to conduct searches only within certain page ranges or selected pages. This would allow to search for keywords within single/selected chapters of a book only.

Well, it is what it is. As a customer I have no say in what font type my bought PDF files come in, but many of them use lots of Type 1 fonts, alongside Truetype.

The font is listed as Type 1 font with "Custom" encoding. When I replace the font with itself then the combined fi "ligature" changes to individual fi letters while I hover the mouse over the font selection list, the letters also change their lines to be more individual (connection between f and i)....

To clarify, I can select both the "f" and the "i" by themselves, so it does not seem to be a "fi" ligature. At least Editor's copy & paste is able to differentiate them.

Thanks for the feedback! Looks like these "fi" characters are true f + i, though. Here I am using copy & paste from Editor to Firefox:

I am using Office 365, aka Word 16. So it offers functions that are not part of Word 2013.

PDF24 is my favorite Ghostscript based PDF software, no question about it!

Well, in this very case common fonts like Comic, Tahoma and Symbol are not removed (entirely). And once the PDF is saved as optimized Editor claims that no more fonts can be unembedded. Quickly add the numbers to those documents that do not come with their own logical page numbering implementation. I just found the Page Number -> Number Range feature and this can be used to quickly align logical to physical page numbers by assigning the front pages their own range.

And in the meantime a possible workaround is to open/import the PDF files in Word, instead of exporting them from Editor. I suggest to at least try this with the full document instead of waiting for an unknown amount of time for a fix to arrive.

Word can import PDF files directly and its conversion can be better than Editor's. So you OCR the pages in Editor and save them as PDF, then you open the PDF files directly in Word. Unfortunately this is not what I mean. The print function as shown by you does resize all pages to fit on the sheet, but I need this without the resizing part. In your example the originally poker sized cards are upsampled to a larger size, because the A4 sheet can hold more than 9 x (2.5 x 3.5 in)....

You can already use F3/SHIFT-F3 with the normal CTRL-F search function. Having something similar for the CTRL-SHIFT-F search pane might be useful.

I did some testing. With enough contrast Editor's OCR is able to (partly) detect black text on colored background, like black on red. But it cannot compete with solutions like Abby Fineprint's OCR which is additionally able to detect combinations as white on black, red on black or white on red.

I think both issues (anti-aliasing and cropping) may only happen when skewed text is present, I will test some more.
