Ok, well I don't know what happened then, maybe it was coincidence. Alas - no matter, unbeknownst to me, we already had other software to do what I'm trying to do, and it doesn't have the issue with later using the pdfs in Acrobat. So - it's been a learning experience. Thanks.

Does this install process add the path to the environment at all? That seems to be something I had to do to get it working. I used: s:\pdf_inst\pdfxv_dev /verysilent /Dir="C:\program Files\Tracker Software\" /NOICONS /NODESKICON /NORESTART /Organization:"Our Company" /LOG=s:\pdf_...

Re: PDF Viewer ActiveX Control Registrationless Activation
Sorry - user error, the parameter was incorrect
however, doing regserver produced no output, but the subsequent
regsvr32 pdfxcviewax.dll gives return code 0x80070005
errorlookup says that's access denied.
so - back to - do I need admin rights to do this?

Viewer and Viewer AX is almost the same. Viewer's .exe file is a COM server for viewer's ActiveX Ok, so are you really trying to say "Our sofware doesn't support this..." That could have saved me some bother. Paul After going over this with the client, we're going to just print the things...

Your message gives the impression that it's just viewer with this inability. However, after having spent some time with the active-x and JS example, I find it's also the Active-x. Re: Filling out a form programaticallty
JS is just one more way to do the job, or often only one possible way to do it when feature isn't supported directly by AX (like with forms - AX doesn't provide objects to work with form fields). You can use JS not only from AX, but also in end-user viewer through JS console (use Ctrl + J shortcut ...
