PDF Tools will not open or run SOLVED

I have a Windows 10 Pro machine on which PDF Tools will not open or run - the little blue wheel spins for a few seconds and then....nothing. I noticed in Task Manager that an entry for PDF Tools appears, briefly shows as Suspended, and then disappears. Regardless, there is no reason the program shou...

@Bhikkhu: Thanks for figuring out this issue involves Shell Extensions.

@NjopOlsson: Thank you for suggesting Nirsoft's ShellExView. I downloaded the s/w and used it to disable the shell extensions - worked perfectly!

Hopefully, the team will have this ironed out soon.

Worst Release Ever (for me, at least)

Terrible! I installed Build 312 (I have PDF-XChange PRO) and the Editor now seems to essentially crash Windows Explorer. I'm running Windows 8.1, FWIW. Every time I open a PDF with the Editor, I get a green bar scrolling across Explorer as if it's scanning for God knows what (see attached 17.pdf). T...

Watermarks with valid license!

I recently installed the new version of the Editor, Tools, etc. I also extended my maintenance for 2 years. When I scanned some docs, those docs opened up in the Editor with watermarks. My license is current, valid and activated, and appears both in the Editor and Tools, which show my maintenance do...

Re: Reset PDF-XChange Editor to not display in Browser?

Hi Paul, Assuming my recollection is not faulty, the Viewer exhibited different behavior than the Editor. When I had the Viewer installed, the plugin did indeed appear in IE. When it was enabled, PDFs opened automatically inside IE. When I disabled the plugin, PDFs would not open automatically in IE...

The PDF-XChange plug-in appears in my IE10 Add-in manager...the problem is that disabling it doesn't make any difference at all... In a very weird way, that actually makes sense. For some users, the IE plugin does not appear in the Add-on manager while for others it does appear in the Add-on manage...

Hi Stefan, You are quite welcome. Nevertheless, this can't be expected behavior with respect to IE. For example, the 'non-IE' plugin for the Editor appears in both Firefox and Chrome and can be disabled in both browsers. I can't imagine why the IE plugin would be designed to not actually appear in I...

Hi Athenian, One thing you can do, with immediate effect, is to rename your the PDF Editor plugin for IE. The file should be named "iePDFXEditPlugin.x86.dll" (or a reasonable facsimile) and should be found in your Tracker Software>>PDF Editor directory (at least that's where it was located...

Hi Will, This is kind of strange: I have the IE plugin (iePDFXEditPlugin.x86.dll) in my PDF Editor directory, PDFs open just fine in IE 8 on my machine, but there is no entry listed for the Editor (or Tracker) under "Toolbars and Extensions". Of course, I selected 'Show all add-ons'. There...

Suugestion: Alternative(s) to the standard Editor icon

Yes, this is a bit picky but the standard Editor icon (dark brown background with Pencil) is not all that distinctive; it does not contain the letters "PDF" (as did the viewer) and that dark background sort of blends in to the dark background of my taskbar. It would be nice if users had a ...

For some reason, I had never tried opening the attached PDF in the Editor before this morning. The issue, of course, should be clear after attempting to open the file.
