Thanks to all for the suggestions. I tried with temporary copies without success. Stamps can be copied and saved, but replacing the original stamp file with the modified copy does not change anything in the collection. I create Dynamic Stamps in Acrobat 7.0 Professional, then I can import them into the Editor.
Adobe Acrobat 7.0 Professional can now be downloaded for free.
