Re: Switching quickly between document title and filename in the tab title
Hello, Willy, I would already be very happy, if I could just quickly toggle the setting, i.e. switching between showing the document title or the document filename as the tab title (for all the tabs). This functionality is already there; what I'm primarily looking for is to make it easier/faster to ...

Re: Switching quickly between document title and filename in the tab title
Thanks, Willy, I really appreciate you trying to help solve my problem. I know about opening the document properties with CTRL + d, and actually sometimes do change the document title as you suggest. But many of the documents I work with are write protected (PDF/A) so I cannot change their title (or...

Re: Switching quickly between document title and filename in the tab title
Hello Daniel, thank you for your prompt answer. If the document tab title is set to "auto", how does the document define whether its filename or its title is shown? I've always assumed that "auto" simply means, if the document has a title, that title is used for the tab title, ot...

Switching quickly between document title and filename in the tab title
Hi, I know that in the preferences you can choose whether to show the document filename or the document title as the document tab title. However, I wonder if there is a way to quickly switch between the two - such as a keyboard shortcut or a button or a context-menu item. If not, I suggest adding su...

Re: Tab title/filename when opening from URL
Hi, support team, I was very happy to find "Added the ability to use the 'Content-Disposition' response header to derive file names for the 'Open from URL' feature. (T# 4848)" in the release notes to build 10.0.0.370 of PDF-XChange Editor! However, I can see no difference in how filenames ...

Re: Tab title/filename when opening from URL
Hi, support team Any update on RT#4848? It is really annoying that if one loads a PDF in PDF-XChange Editor from an URL ending with a generic resource name and possibly also having URL parameters, such as https://www.example.com/pdf-document?num=123456, for example, the filename (and tab title) of t...

Re: [Feature suggestion] Self-contained saved sessions
Thank you Stefan for your reply, but I think your alternative approaches miss the point. Of course, I can share a set of PDF files with colleagues, be it as individual files, as a zipped folder, as attachments to a main document or as parts of a PDF portfolio. But what I seek to achieve is to share ...

Re: [Feature suggestion] Self-contained saved sessions
Hi Daniel, Thanks for your reply. I totally understand that you have other priorities. However, at least some basic functionality would already be very helpful and hopefully not overly complex to implement: I suggest adding a checkbox to the "Save Current Session to a File" dialog; if this...

[Feature suggestion] Self-contained saved sessions
Hi there, To me, the ability to save sessions of open PDF files so that it is possible to quickly reopen the same PDF files arranged in windows and tabs in the same way as before is one of the most valuable and distinguishing features of PDF-XChange Editor. Many thanks for this! However, a saved ses...

Session including non-PDF documents
Hi, I would like to suggest an improvement to saved sessions. PDF-XChange Editor is capable of opening non-PDF documents of some formats, such as Microsoft Word files. To my understanding, such documents are converted to PDF in the background and then displayed, but they exist only in memory and are...

PDF portfolio with stored session information
Hi, I really appreciate that PDF-XChange Editor is able to store sessions. I use this feature a lot to have quick access to sets of PDF files that are displayed in a certain tab arrangement on my displays. Currently, for each such set I create a directory on my hard disk and place all pdf files of t...

Hi, in order to use as much of the screen as possible for displaying pdf files, I've added the button "Toggle All Command Panes" to my window title bar and use it to hide the menus, which I barely need since I have the most important buttons in the window title bar and can access all other...

Re: Annotation problem since 327
Hi Paul, many thanks for quickly investigating this issue. I do not need that special file tested. It was just an example. Actually, all files I obtain from a certain source trigger the same error message, so I guess that there is just something wrong with how the files from that source have been cr...

Drag-duplicate tab
In my opinion, one of the most valuable features of PDF-XChange Editor is the complete flexibility in arranging tabs and tab groups. In particular the ability of viewing two (or more) documents side-by-side is very important to my way of working - not only viewing two different documents, but especi...

Hi Paul,
thanks for your quick reply and for considering my suggestion. The responsiveness of the entire support team is really incredible. That for sure is part of the reason that PDF-XChange Editor, though being a great piece of software already, still keeps improving.

Tab title/filename when opening from URL
It's great that PDF-XChange Editor is able to directly open URLs. I use this feature a lot to load PDFs that are stored in a private database and accessible through a server via http. Apparently PDF-XChange Editor uses the last part of the URL entered by the user as the title for the tab that opens ...

Re: Opening from Sessions Closes all Prexisting Windows
Hi Stefan,
thank you for your suggestion. This is indeed a good solution. Actually, I can assign a shortcut (e.g. Alt+W) to File -> Close All so that I can close all tabs and windows at once and do not even need to close them indiviually.
Thanks again!

Re: Opening from Sessions Closes all Prexisting Windows
Hi Stefan, thanks again for the quick answer. I have version 7.0 Build 328.2 installed and could reproduce what you describe. I had assumed that the options in the Manage Sessions window only apply to internally saved sessions, but not to sessions saved externally to an .xcesession file. Apparently,...

Re: Opening from Sessions Closes all Prexisting Windows
Hi Stefan, thank you for your quick reply. Apparenty, I wasn't clear enough. Sessions can be saved in two different ways: either internally (File -> Open -> Sessions -> Save Current Session) or as an external file having the .xcesession file extension (File -> Open -> Sessions -> Save Current Sessio...

Re: Opening from Sessions Closes all Prexisting Windows
This option to open documents stored in a session without closing all preexisting tabs or windows seems to be only available for the internally stored sessions, but not when opening a session from a .xcesession file. It would be very helpful, if such option could be added to restoring a session save...
