Re: Ability to hide empty text field in new comments section SOLVED
I now have version 10.2.1.385 installed. This is much better. So, thanks a lot! The only thing that I am now (really) missing is the ability to reduce the space for the text in the comment pane still further (and a lot further). As I, for my part, always have a lot of underlined or highlighted text,...

Re: Ability to hide empty text field in new comments section SOLVED
Well, yes. If grouped by page, there they are: page numbers. Yet, if grouped by types, as I prefer it, I have a somewhat limited choice. Under “Option” and “Show”, there are: subjects, authors, dates, statuses, and colors. But, unfortunately, not page numbers. The overall gripe I have is just the sa...

Re: Ability to hide empty text field in new comments section SOLVED
Great. Good to know that the update is coming. As for my comments on page numbers, I tried to convey two things: 1) In the comments pane, as it is now, there are no page numbers. Therefore, it is totally unclear which part of the text the comments belong to. For sure, I can see an icon (highlight, u...

Re: Ability to hide empty text field in new comments section SOLVED
Sorry for insisting. But that new comments pane is just no good. I have now given up on it and, instead, am using thumbnails, spotting here and there some red and yellow coloured passages. One structural element I am also missing sorely: page numbers. Reading a book and taking notes, this would real...

Re: Ability to hide empty text field in new comments section SOLVED
I’d like to second fcastillo. Indeed, an option is needed that makes it possible to collapse all the comments in the comments pane. In my case, it is so as to hide the text of the underlined and highlighted paragraphs … and leave for me to see nothing more than the information I really want to have ...

Re: Sticky Note and Stylus: (1) Crash and (2) Context Menu
1) I’d really appreciate having touch scrolling within my search results. 2a) The "switch to pencil with digitizer" option is disabled. 2b) My stylus does have a side button, yes. Still, I’d very much prefer doing it like in Android (or in Windows). Long(er) touch, and the context menu ope...

Re: Sticky Note and Stylus: (1) Crash and (2) Context Menu
I have just tested the new PDF XChange Editor 8.0, build 330.0. Or, more to the point, I tested one particular functionality. I was looking for improvements with some issues I personally have had for a very long time, namely a number of problems pertaining to the use of a stylus and the use of a tou...

Re: PDF iFilter was not correctly registered
I eventually solved the problem. First of all, it has nothing to do with the Editor. The snag lies with Adobe. Indeed, I forgot that I had updated Adobe Acrobat Reader DC almost simultaneously with installing the Editor. In my country, this piece of software is of obligatory use for some officially ...

Re: PDF iFilter was not correctly registered
Thanks for your reply.
I verified. There was no update in the last week or so. Yet, I believe the idea on the whole is a good one. There might indeed be something fishy with my shell extensions.
When I have some time, I'll do some experimenting. And I'll get back to you with the results.

Re: PDF iFilter was not correctly registered
On my machine, there was only a check at "file contents", not at "system files". I added the check, rebooted, yet to no avail. The content indexing still doesn't work.

Re: PDF iFilter was not correctly registered
Thanks for the reply! 1) The "Always search file names and contents (…)" option was already enabled. 2) There is, however, no "PDF-XChange IE plugin" in Windows Explorer. I looked into IE, and there is no plugin either. I verified this looking through about two dozen IE plugins, ...

Re: PDF iFilter was not correctly registered
I do too have a problem with indexing. I followed the suggestions given here in this thread, hoping to have a fix for my problem. Yet, sadly, no. https://www.pdf-xchange.com/knowledgebase/395-How-do-I-re-register-the-shell-extensions Besides PDF-Xchange Editor, I also have two more PDF readers insta...

Re: Going back and forth within a document: "Previous View" and "Next View" or, rather, "Previous Page" and "Next Page"
Thanks for your answer! 1) I already mentioned this particular function (your highlighted box) in the last sentence of my post: "the option to uncheck the standard setting of having to navigate back (and forward) through all open documents". 2) Bookmarks, yes, I do have them, and I do use ...

Going back and forth within a document: "Previous View" and "Next View" or, rather, "Previous Page" and "Next Page"
About "Previous View" and "Next View". This is, at times, a very painstaking and cumbersome affair. For instance, after having consulted the footnotes of a document, I want to go back to the text, jumping within a book, say, from page 450 to page 65. Yet, with your understanding ...

Re: Sticky Note and Stylus: (1) Crash and (2) Context Menu
I don't think I can really help you along with this. What I can do on my machine, by tweaking the settings, is very much limited. I can calibrate the stylus, I can control the sensitivity, I can determine the amount of time it takes to trigger the context menu, I can have visual feedback of the use ...

Re: Sticky Note and Stylus: (1) Crash and (2) Context Menu
2) Thanks! And yes, I might worry too much. 3) and 4) To me, my stylus doesn’t seem to be that advanced. It is this one: https://support.lenovo.com/de/de/solutions/pd027341 I can also happily report that with Foxit PhantomPDF and Adobe Acrobat Pro there are no difficulties in triggering the context ...

Re: Sticky Note and Stylus: (1) Crash and (2) Context Menu
Thanks a lot for these two very speedy replies! 1) Thanks for the option to revert to an older version of the Editor. I have nonetheless decided to stick with the present version. Still, I will have to avoid the toolbar of the sticky note at all cost. Yet, I hope that you will be able to fix the iss...

Sticky Note and Stylus: (1) Crash and (2) Context Menu
1) Trying to edit a sticky note already created leads to an immediate and sudden crash of the software. Having observed the matter over the last two or three weeks (with a string of crashes), it appears to me that operating the scrolling on the right hand side of the sticky note may be the ultimate ...
