Re: Printing from PDF XChange Editor
Hello Stefan, this must be a joke? No printing of fonts (what about the hinting information?), no printing of full-resolution images? (See: https://forum.pdf-xchange.com/viewtopic.php?f=62&t=31991) Really: given the number of tools other providers offer - I should not need to print a PDF with XC...

Printing from PDF XChange Editor
Hello! When printing a pdf file with otf or ttf text (exported from Word as PDF) from XChange Editor to a PDF printer (PDF24), the XChange Editor behaves completely different to Acrobat Reader. The result is a PDF like an image file, very much bigger than the source, and the text not searchable anym...

How to remove OCR text layer(s)?
Hi, after doing OCR two times on the same document (I tested some settings), there seem to be two text layers of recognized text! When I search for a word, I get two search entries per word. How could I remove one or all text layers? Or is there a setting to delete "old" recognized text wh...

Re: Will PDF-XChange support detached signature files one day (CAdES)?
Hello Daniel, When signing, even with "detached PKCS#7" selected no separate file is generated outside of the document. I suspected that your software uses a different meaning of "detached" in the options you showed me. In qualified signature software as Seccommerce Secsigner for...

Re: Will PDF-XChange support detached signature files one day (CAdES)?
No, we are talking about XChange Editor not being able to process signatures that are saved in a .pkcs7 file. Validating the signature would be a second step. In my case it is a qualified signature (eIDAS, electronic IDentification, Authentication and trust Services).

Re: Will PDF-XChange support detached signature files one day (CAdES)?
Hello Daniel, yes, I mean validating, sorry. I do not have an example at the moment, but perhaps you can describe what to do with the .pkcs7 signature file? An embedded signature is shown automatically when the PDF file is opened. But a detached signature is not recognized by PDF-XChange Editor by h...

Re: Will PDF-XChange support detached signature files one day (CAdES)?
Hello Daniel,
I'm afraid not. I would like to proof an existing detached signature in a .pkcs7 file that comes along with a corresponding PDF file and contains the signature for the PDF file. File and signature are already existing and come from another person.

Will PDF-XChange support detached signature files one day (CAdES)?
Hello!
PDF-XChange Editor shows embedded qualified signatures and offers to proof them (PAdES).
Some signatures are coming not embedded in the PDF file, but in a detached .pkcs7 signature file (CAdES). Will you add support to proof these signatures in the future?
Thank you,
xchangeit

JPEG 2000? Really?
Hi, are you sure PDF-XChange Editor saves images with JPEG 2000 compression? I did some trials with saving PDF "optimized". First what made me sceptical was the fact that I can save files as PDF 1.4 and images compressed with JPEG 2000 - which is not part of the PDF 1.4 standard. Next was ...

Enhanced OCR plugin deactivated?
Hi, I am using the trial version of Editor 8 at the moment. Yesterday I tested the Enhanced OCR plugin. It worked. Then I switched to normal OCR plugin and today I cannot switch back to enhanced version. It is greyed out. Even uninstalling and a new installation does not help. No enhanced OCR.jpg I ...

Why is there a resolution limitation for images?
I was always wondering about bad image resolution when printing via PDF XChange Editor, but then I found this: File - Print - Advanced Print Options - More - Rendering Options - Maximum resolution for images Why does this exist? And why can't I switch it off? My laser printer offers a 1200 dpi resol...

Wrong german word in signature validation
Hi, could somebody please change the word "Signatuer" (which does not exist in German) to "Signatur" (which would be correct)? The complete sentence in correct punctuation should be: "Die Zeitangabe in der Signatur stammt von dem Rechner, auf dem die Signatur erstellt wurde....

Re: Editor starts not maximized
Hello Frank and Stefan, I could confirm that effect and I suppose it is a bug. In my case it is in Windows 7 64bit. The start menu shortcut is on "open always maximized", but XChange Editor (322.7 64bit and earlier) ignores it, if another pdf file is still open . Opening the first pdf file...
