Re: A Suggested Mode for Tablet Users

This is a great start for a tablet mode! I suggest for trial use: changing back to hand mode when the stylus is 1) pressed on the glass for @ 1/2 second, 2) not moving, and 3) no text is selected. I also suggest that the speed required to switch back to hand mode is maybe a bit slower. I find myself...

Re: A Suggested Mode for Tablet Users

Thanks again for your response. Regarding the stylus mode stuck on the pencil tool, I found that turning off "switch to pencil tool with digitizer" in "Comment Options" fixed that problem. Regarding highlights - this is not really a PDF-XChange issue per se, but other PDF editing...

Re: A Suggested Mode for Tablet Users

One more thing - the stylus on my surface pro always uses pen mode. It's not possible to set it to any other mode, such as highlight. That makes it useless for me.

Also, highlights from other PDF programs are not handled the same way in PDF-XChange. They can't be edited at all.

Re: A Suggested Mode for Tablet Users

Currently, you really need a mouse and keyboard to use PDF-XChange as a reading device. For tablet mode, ideally we should be able to scroll and select text without changing the active mode (e.g., highlight, underline, select text, hand tool etc). The default mode is scrolling, but a long press over...

Re: Pencil tool in PDFX-CHange Editor SOLVED

In the Surface Pro, in general, each application manages the stylus as it wants. There are a few system-wide settings for finger touch, mouse and stylus ("flicks"), but these are overridden/unsupported by many apps. There is no setting in Windows AFAIK to use 2 finger on-screen scrolling -...

Re: Pencil tool in PDFX-CHange Editor SOLVED

In the latest update 323.2, the stylus writing has improved, but only after I reset curve smoothing from 9240 to 9250 (hex) via registry editing. It is still flaky when starting numbers with an up-right curve like 2 or 3, and occasionally pops up an unwanted R click menu. However, it is now mostly u...

Re: Pencil tool in PDFX-CHange Editor SOLVED

----Wow, thanks for your detailed responses. Much appreciated! (My responses will have "----" in front of them) --The pencil function produces many skips and causes far too much stroke rounding. I hope to get some time to fix/improve that in the near future. ----Thx., (In the meantime, all...

Re: Pencil tool in PDFX-CHange Editor SOLVED

The .reg file does not work for me in v7. It worked OK in v6, and it was easy to check the changes in the registry. My registry key is already set at 30%, which did work in the previous version, but not in V7. Apparently, the [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Tracker Software\PDFXEditor\3.0\Settings\Comme...

Re: Pencil tool in PDFX-CHange Editor SOLVED

After "upgrading" to the v 7 PDF-XChange Editor Pro, I had great hopes that the stylus issues would be fixed. Well, it looks like nothing was fixed, and in fact it's worse than before. To make matters even worse, the registry setting used to control line smoothing is no longer is used for ...

Re: pencil tool - turning off smoothing

Yes, this did work. Apparently the Editor writes its current settings when it closes down, overwriting my registry edit. On my Surface Pro, a setting of 10 (decimal) seems to work best. Not as good as OneNote, but MUCH better than before. Thanks for you help!

Touch and ink integration with Surface Pro (2017)

On my new Windows Surface (2017), the stylus does not behave as expected in the XChange Editor. Holding down the stylus doe no reliable bring up a context menu, and it's nearly impossible to drag the border of a toolbar to resize it. Furthermore, when customizing the toolbars, the screen becomes unr...

Re: pencil tool - turning off smoothing

I have the same problem on a new Surface Pro (2017) with the Surface stylus. My handwriting is altered to the point of being unreadable. I tried a bunch of different setting for the registry keys, but the are all ignored. In fact, the keys are deleted by PDF-XChange Editor as soon as the program loa...
